Profile summary:

Dr. Cristina Comaniciu received the M.S. degree in electronics from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 1993, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Rutgers University in December 2001. From 1998 to 2001 she was with the Wireless Information Network Laboratory (WINLAB) at Rutgers University, working on integrated access control and detection algorithms for multimedia CDMA systems. At WINLAB she worked under the supervision of  Professor Narayan Mandayam.

From 2002 to 2003 she was affiliated with the Electrical Engineering Department at Princeton University as a research associate, working withProfessor H. Vincent Poor.

Since August 2003, she is an assistant professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She is a recipient of the WINSEC 2004 award for outstanding contributions, and a co-author of the recent book "Wireless Networks: Multiuser Detection in Cross-Layer Design", Springer, NY, 2005.

She recently won the 2007 IEEE Marconi Best Paper Prize Award in Wireless Communications   for the paper   "On the Capacity of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks with Delay Constraints",   co-authored with H. Vincent Poor. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Communications Letters Journal.

Her research interests include cooperative protocols for spectrum sharing and interference mitigation, cross-layer design, game theoretic approaches for design of energy aware wireless networks, radio resource management for cellular and ad hoc networks, admission/access control for multimedia wireless systems, and security tradeoffs for wireless networks.

Dr. Cristina Comaniciu is the 2012 Rutgers School of Engineering Medal of Excellence Recipient for Distinguished Young Alumna
