NONDEGREE GRADUATE STUDY



ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

To apply for nondegree complete pages 1 and 2 of the application only. Check "Application for Nondegree Study" at the top of page 1. Indicate the program in which you wish to take courses under Program Name on page 1. Send the application (pages 1-2), and the $50.00 application fee, (payable by check, money order, or credit card) to Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, along with official transcripts(s) not student copies, a typed statement of purpose (academic, research and career plans) together in the large envelope to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. International students must have an appropriate visa (other than F-1), and non-native speakers are required to report a current Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. Nondegree Study Program at Rutgers has the requirement that applicants possess an undergraduate degree and a cumulative GPA of 3.00. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Program typically admits students for Nondgree Study who have a GPA of at least 3.20 which is the criteria used also for applicants being considered for admission to the degree program.

Course selections should be indicated in a written request to the Gradute Director. Special permission numbers are required, and will be supplied by the department, if your admission/course selection is approved. A term maximum of two courses (6 credits) may be taken and a total accumulation of four courses (12 credits) may be taken as a nondegree student.

We cannot give permission for students to take nondegree courses in other departments.

There is no such thing as a "transfer" to matriculation (the degree program). Individuals desiring admission to the degree program must formally apply for admission to the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions, 18 Bishop Place, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901-1103.

Individuals who have taken courses in the nondegree program and are later accepted as degree students may transfer courses in which they have received a grade of "B" or better after they have completed 12 credits of graduate courses with grades of "B" or better in the degree program.
